Sounds at Home

Help children learn to listen carefully and make connections between sounds and the things that make those sounds. To play, students listen to the sounds on the CD and place tokens on the images on their game cards that match what they hear. Each game set includes 12 game cards (5.5†x 8.5†each) with 8 photos per card, 120 game tokens, an audio CD, and directions in English, Spanish, and French. It also supports NCTE and NAEYC standards.     Disappointing For a start, a company which writes New Photo’s on the outside claiming to unlock the potential in every child, well. I wish they had checked their grammar before printing. The cards are all very similar, the sounds are very good, very realistic and well recorded, but my kids 3 and 5, after having played twice and are not interested anymore. I had hoped to be able to use this for teaching- lots of different sounds and therefore also vocabulary, but there are actually only 14 sounds, which are…

    Useful Classroom Resource This is slightly pricey, but good quality boards and 12 of them which means that it is versatile.The CD plays all the sounds and there are a number of tracks, each one with the sounds in a slightly different order giving one the opportunity to play the game a number of times with the same children.It is advertised as having 120 tokens. These are merely cardboard squares, separated by perforations. They would really have done better to leave them out as they do not match the…
